Yesterday I spent the day working at the Earn It Yourself booth at Warped Tour. I don't even know where to start describing the day. Needless to say it was amazing. Got to work with Sarah Saturday and handle merch for project Gardening, Not Architecture.

The punk scene isn't really my thing, but that made the day that much more enjoyable. I didn't feel like I was missing out on the shows when I was working or walking around. It also gave me a new appreciation for punk music. It was really neat to see some musicians who have been around for years and years but they still run jump around on stage as if they were still 20.

It was also a sociological field day to watch all the punkster kids. They were all really nice. It's neat to be in it, and not of it, so to speak. I appreciate music as much as they do, and love festivals, but this is different than my passion. But I totally understand their passion for music. It was interesting to see all the different ways they dress and act.

Highlights of the day: Working with Sarah, meeting Keven Lyman (creator of Warped Tour) and discussing the music industry and the Minneapolis music scene with him, him describing how to go about promoting music and your own band and realizing that friends of mine are doing it how he described it and being successful (specifically Roster McCabe), him liking the shirt I was wearing (tank from H&M that has a story written on it about the music scene, it mentions Prince and First Ave, obviously why it caught my eye at the store and I freaked out in excitement and bought it) so much that he asked me to take it off and leave it with him, having a Band wristband that got us in all over the place, eating an amazing catered dinner with punk stars I didn't know and couldn't appreciate as well as a guitarist from Sum 41 and not realizing it until after the fact because I wasn't ever into them, just being around huge-name punk rockers and not even knowing who they were (such as the Alkaline Trio), hearing new music and being surprised how much I liked it (The Rocket Summer), talking with two 18-year old guys about their bands and our experiences in the scene as friends/fans/promotors, having Kevin Lyman tell me I couldn't have a beer because I was under 21 (I'm 24, but appreciate the compliment), going in his tour bus to look around (it was amazing), making friends with the merch guys next to us (Hellcat Records), sharing a tent with various bands (one of which was comprised of kids who couldn't have been older than 15).. and more. Seriously, unbelieveable. Talk about a pinch-myself-to-make-sure-I'm-not-dreaming day.
